Generosity Shines During the Holidays: $100 Million Raised for Cancer Research
A Rare Disease Inspires Action
Chen’s daughter, Mira, suffers from a rare form of brain cancer. To fund research for this condition, Chen launched a GoFundMe campaign with an initial goal of $300,000. By last Thursday, the fundraiser had already reached 80% of its target. Chen also shared his Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana wallet addresses to allow for additional contributions.
The Memecoin Community Steps In
In a surprising turn of events, someone in the crypto community proposed creating a memecoin named after Chen’s daughter, Mira. The idea quickly gained traction when an X (formerly Twitter) user, @Waddles_eth, purchased half of the token’s supply and donated it to Chen. After Chen shared this initiative on his social media, the coin went viral almost instantly.
Explosive Growth of the $MIRA Token
The $MIRA token experienced remarkable growth. Its value skyrocketed from a fraction of a cent to a peak of $0.08 on Thursday morning. This surge increased the worth of Chen’s tokens from $400,000 to over $18 million. Trading volume surpassed $85 million across more than 130,000 transactions, making it the most popular small-cap token in the past 24 hours.
A Heartwarming Christmas for the Chen Family
Chen expressed his gratitude on X: “I’ve had a lot of very memorable days on the internet over the past 30 years, but this one tops them all.” He announced that over $1 million had been raised, exceeding the initial goal more than threefold. To ensure transparency, Chen pledged to sell $1,000 worth of $MIRA every 10 minutes until all tokens are used up.
