Give everything in millimetres. The saw kerf is the width of your own blade: a thin blade takes about one and a half millimetres and a rip blade over three, and on thirty cuts that is a piece of wood. The tool counts one kerf per piece, also for the last one, so you rather have a piece left than a length short.
