Step 1Open the tool. There is nothing to install, and it keeps working without internet.

Step 2Paste the link. A shorter link makes a coarser code, and a coarser code may be smaller on the sign.

Step 3Say from how far the code is read and at what angle. A sign high on a wall is read at an angle, and the code then appears narrower than it is.

Step 4Choose a size, or type your own measurements in centimetres.

Step 5A logo in the middle is possible, but it eats into the error correction. Only a third of that correction may be used; the rest is reserve for dirt, a scratch or a raindrop.

Step 6Five checks: does it carry the distance, is there four blocks of empty space around it, does the logo fit, is a block big enough for your printer, and is the contrast sufficient.

Step 7The price works itself out while you design. You can change the rates yourself.
